I. Introduction
The meeting to set up the Central African Pesticide Committee (CPAC) was held in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, from 12-14 September 2006. This meeting was a follow-up to the signing, by Agriculture Ministers of CEMAC member states, in Douala on 8 September 2005, of the document of the Common Regulation on the Homologation of Pesticides in Central Africa, and the adoption of same document by Ministers of the Central African Economic Union (UEAC), in Malabo on 11 March 2006.
This meeting was co-organized by the IAPSC/CPAC-PIP/COLEACP project, CEMAC, and the host country, with financial support from the European Union within the framework of the Pesticides Initiative Programme, put in place by the Europe -ACP Liaison Committee.
The meeting brought together Experts from Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, the Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, as well as experts from CEMAC Executive Secretariat, from IAPSC/AU and from CEBEVIRHA.
In addition to these experts from the sub-region, the meeting was also attended by representatives of Regional and International Institutions involved in the CPAC setting up project. These included CROPLIFE, AFFIP and PIP/COLEACP/EU.
