Ref : Implementation of the Recommendations of the Executive Council (Third Ordinary Session) 4-8-July 2003 MAPUTO (Mozambique)

The Inter-African Phytosanitary Council of African Union have the honour to inform you that the above Council decided that the Phytosanitary Training scheme initially followed by the CARFOP of Dschang (Cameroon) be included in the activities of the Inter-African Phytosanitary Council. To this end a University or an Institute of Research was to be identified in each sub-region by the IAPSC to enable this office to have a Network of Training Institutions and research to facilitate the training component of IAPSC and increase capacities for crop protection in Africa. Based on Regional representation, the following Centres haves been identified throughout Africa for this purpose :

-  North Africa : Egyptian International Centre for Agriculture, Cairo, Egypt ;
-  West Africa : Research Centre IITA of Ibadan and Cotonou ;
-  Central Africa : Agronomic Faculty of Science (FASA) of Dschang, Cameroon ;
-  East Africa : KEPHIS, Nairobi, Kenya ;
-  Southern Africa : Phytosanitary Training Centre, Maputo, Mozambique.
